I know this is slightly old, but I really like the story about the dentists who travel to Ukrainian orphanages. As I wrote a while back dental health for many orphans is very poor. For some children their dental issues become very traumatic. Toothbrushes as Christmas gifts are very appreciated by many orphans… along with warm shoes, gloves.
Life2Orphans.Org has started their Christmas project for the various orphanages. If there is a particular orphanage you would like to help out with, contact the orphanage coordinator (scroll down to see all the contacts after clicking on the link). If you don’t know which orphanage you want to help… you can pick one at random. Or pick Green Forest Orphanage… (I am the Life2Orphans coordinator for Green Forest Orphanage. My darling was adopted from here at 3.5 years of age in 2000.)
You can also contact dianes@life2orphans.org. She can help you select a specific orphanage for your Christmas donation.
All the donations for Life2Orphans are shipped to Ukraine via Portland, Oregon. Any box that arrives after October 20 will not arrive in Ukraine for Christmas.
The Life2Orphans’ blog should be updated with further information later today.
Those Scottish soccer (football) fans are at it again. They started out by helping 1 Dnprio orphanage when they played a match in Ukraine. It was suppose to be a one time donation. But they have kept going and are now helping another Dnprio orphanage. They have raised £16,000 ($30,000 for American readers) so far.
Today Carr said: “It’s been an unbelievable year. We thought that once the UEFA Cup game was over the interest would melt away but the Hibs fans haven’t forgotten. Virtually every day there’s a new donation being made and, to be honest, I think if we even tried to wrap things up we wouldn’t be allowed to.
“This will be our third visit to Dnipropetrovsk and we feel we are in the position of being able to extend our help to another orphanage.
Old Union Church of Christ in Castalian Springs, Tennessee is trying to fill a shipping container for Ukraine orphans. I don’t know what orphanage this is for. And I find it very interesting the Ukrainian government is paying for the shipping costs. They are collecting items from Sept 13 to Nov 8 2006. If anyone is interested in helping the church email nadeanpryor@comcast.net or gurchiek@aol.com.
Last but not least is a story about Hernando man out to bring better life to Ukrainian kids. I would really like to know more about his charity. He is working with Kyiv street kids.
